As most of you know Ian Walsh, our Cork promoter and friend, suddenly passed away at the end of August this year (2021).
I personally have no involvement in organizing gigs as the promoter deals with that side of the tour. Over the last couple of months, I and several other people have tried to find out what was going to happen with the rescheduled gig in 2022.
We only managed to find out that several tickets were sold from a record shop and from Ian. The venue was dealing directly with Ian and has taken the gig of their gig list.
Because the venue has failed to interact with us, it now seems obvious that they have cancelled the show which is completely out of our control and of huge regret to us and the memory of Ian.
Apart from it being a huge disappointment it is also a financial loss to the people that bought a ticket, the band, the support bands, the sound guy and everyone that was directly or indirectly involved.
More importantly Ian will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with Ian’s family and friends during this sad and difficult time.
The Dublin and Belfast gigs -28th and 29th January 2022, which are organized by a different promoter are still going ahead (Covid restrictions permitted) and hopefully we’ll be able to see you there.
Our very first gig of the IGNORANT TOUR after 18 months delay, had to of course start in Nottingham where Crass played 37 years ago. We were all pretty nervous and super excited to finally get on stage and perform those Crass songs that we’ve been rehearsing for the last 2 1/2 years.
What a night! Thanks to our Special guests ‘Static Kill’ and ‘The Blunders’ for joining us. Massive thanks to Lee Garratts from ‘Both Eyes Open’ for setting up the gig and of course a very special thank you to all that come along. It truly was a great start of our tour.
Yesterday I joined Tim Burgess at one of his listening parties. It was great that so many people at exactly 7pm pressed play or put the needle of their record player down on the vinyl or listened via Spotify/YouTube or other streaming options.
I really enjoyed listening to the album again while tweeting away. If you missed it you can click on the link and listen to it in real time.
Step out into the infinite potential of CRASS remix land. Download for FREE the stem tracks of ‘Feeding of the Five Thousand’ and create your own mix. The best of the bunch will be compiled later this year for a charity release as a 12″ vinyl spectacular by One Little Independent.
15th April – Morning All, One Little Independent’s Dropbox account got blocked because there was too much traffic. Ben has upgraded it and everything is now sorted. New link – https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xil8f9j9lz32ly6/AAB2TM80jUuSFUCfnjWu9hNSa?dl=0
Today is a special day – Dave King, who designed the Crass symbol, left us last year and today is his birthday. There was meant to be a celebration of his life in San Francisco but obviously that won’t happen. What I would ask is for all of you who have a Crass symbol somewhere – be it on your body or a poster or a t-shirt – doesn’t matter which – take a picture and share it.
I have very fond memories of me, Dave and Dionne in their apartment in Prince Street, NYC putting the world to rights, discussing Jack Kirby’s artwork from the Marvel comics, drinking beers and the next Sleeping Dogs performance.
There is so much I could say but at the moment it’s too emotional so I’ll raise a glass to Dave King who is the King.
What a symbol.
With us forever.
My arms stretch and embrace Dionne, his soul mate.
All the best Dave, decorate the walls wherever you are with your felt pens and save a place for me.
