This beautiful design was initially made by Paul Thorpe. He found the heart image of the Crass symbol on the internet, burnt it into olive wood (pyrography) and put his own spin on it.
We decided that this would be the perfect design to support music venues during the Covid 19 Pandemic. For me and many of you music is part of my life and it made me who I am today. No music venues, no gigs, no live music.
So far, with your support, we have donated 100 % of the profit of 600 Crass Heart Badges to:
- The Foremans Bar, Nottingham
- The Railway Hotel, Southend
- SO36, Berlin in Germany
- Jac’s, Aberdare
- New Cross Inn, London
- The Rising Sun Arts Centre, Reading
Our next 100 Hearts will go to Tullikamari, Tampere in Finland.
The Tullikamari (The Old Customs House) building dates back to 1901 (120 years this year!) and is owned by the City of Tampere. It was handed over for its current purpose in 1988. Since then, Pakkahuone has greeted many legends of live music. Bands such as Black Sabbath, Motörhead, Prodigy and The Ramones as well as all Finnish top artists have experienced the palpable live atmosphere of Tampere on the stage of the legendary Pakkahuone hall. The club side of Tullikamari (Klubi) is one of the most prestigious concert venues in Finland with over 400 shows by Finnish and international artist of all genres each year. Tullikamari is managed by Tampere Culture Chamber Ltd.
Tullikamari has been on the forefront of live music and culture for over 30 years. During that time, it has developed into renowned Finnish concert venue and event centre. The total number of annual visitors to Pakkahuone and Klubi is (at normal times) around 200 000.
Please support our venues by buying a Crass Heart or share this.
